Guys there gave me a great tour and demo. Was a very enlightening experience. I think i’ve settled on a 360 sv s (the guys told me it is actually called s5 by the brits instead) as it seems to be a nice middle ground performance wise and can be upgraded later without too much hassle. Some thoughts:

Much windier than the convertibles I’ve been in. Side screens seem necessary at freeway speeds. The wind was trying to suck the sunglasses off my face

I’m not too tall for the regular car at 6'1". My hips are too wide to comfortably fit the seat.

The sv, although it appears chonkey in photos, looks much better in person and the proportions dont look as off. Honestly the regular car looks too small.

Highly reccomend a visit in the LA area. Will post some more pics of my trip when I get home tuesday, internet is goving me trouble right now.

I also didnt get to ask what the deal was with the Shelby daytona concept because I ran out of time. Im not 100% sure its legit.

Edit: wanted to add some more detail for posterity: they told me to make sure to spec these with a battery master cut off, as with the tiny battery the immobilizer will drain the car in about a week. They ran a custom cut off to the dash as usually its external on the car. On the model they added some additional gauges for battery voltage. They also advised me that 90% of the time when caterham ships the kits to the US they are missing pieces which need to be reordered. He reccomended ordering the car as a factory roller (which I probably won’t for the bragging rights) to ensure that you dont have to wait for them to reship the missing hardware.

I wonder what it cost to insure a place like that.

Are most of these cars relipcas?

Were you able to test fit the sv? If so how was the room in there being a few inches wider.

As far as i know with the exception of a few of the shelbys and fords the bulk were superformance replicas

Sv is perfectly comfortable. More leg room is available than what I need. The seat wasn’t. Even all the way back. The regular seven is a little too coffin- esque for me.

Any trouble with the pedals on either? The original size is something like 9" of room

The standard car they had wasn’t fully assembled and was missing its drivetrain, and the gas pedal. I can imagine it would be quite tricky and the rep told me he absolutely has to wear driving shoes or he would press multiple pedals. He wears a size 11 and I wear 11 1/2. I didnt get to drive the sv as it was a customers car but sitting in it felt fine to me. Clutch is super short and snappy. The shifter felt really weird, it wasnt bad but it didnt feel like a car shifter. It felt like you were engaging a lever on some pice of equipment, a lot of resistance/friction in the throw. I didnt like how the shifter was sort of sunk in the padding of the center console.

I'd recommend a visit if you are ever in the area of a dealer. The hillbank guys were super nice and helpful.
